"The non Christians have more Jesuses to claim than the Christians"

Let's assume the crucifiction really took place (ie. that the fiction
is real)... and then a few day later Jesus rose from the dead. What's
the big deal about when he didn't commit the "ultimate sacrifice,"
which is to die and be really dead or perhaps to be crippled for
life?

The non Christians though can claim many more victims and not less
painful death... the Inquisition inflicted excruciating torture, the
Conquistadors and colonists committed genocide against the Indians
followed by the slavery against the Africans, the Church was behind
the Spanish Civil War against the freedom-loving Libertarians, etc.

I think the CRUCIFICTION has been created and re-created with an
agenda in mind, but the opposition can claim far more victims.

had nothing to do with suffering and sacrifice. Quite the

Too bad that writes who propose this sort of thinking started riding
too late in life to enjoy riding in interesting locales. I recall my
sons at less than age 10 making a 50 mile ride to the coast and back
over a 1300 foot summit and thinking nothing of it other than not
knowing any classmates who rode beyond city streets.

Some years later, joining me on a tour of the alps, my younger son had
a great time over great mountains in Switzerland, Italy, and France.
There was no suffering there, and of course no concept of competition.

We hadn't considered Lance Armstrong at the time.

So long as people keep high on the RELIGIOS OPIUM and low on the BIKE
SAFETY AREA, they need to be reminded that Jesus is riding a bike
among us.

POWERFUL STUFF...

Blessed are the Merciful
Curated by Jerome Jacobs
February 10 - April 29, 2006

Blessed are those who are sensitive to the misery and misfortune of
others.

The world today revolves around a few key elements: money, power and
religion. It's impossible to know where to turn to, given the
indifference of friends and the hostility of enemies. Our planet is
heading towards global haggling, and piety has once again become a
weapon of mass manipulation and a means of taking, keeping and
justifying power.

Yet never before has the expression of religion been so far removed
from its roots and from the way in which it was originally expressed.
Far from being a belief or philosophy of compassion and love, it is
often corrupted by abusive, omnipotent fanaticism. In our western
eyes, of course, it is Islam - as expressed by terrorists and other
extremists - which has become the standard example of this abuse of
religion. Yet the abuse of Islam is not, by any means, the only
example of abuse of a religion. Christianity is also re-living a
sombre era with an upsurge in fanaticism, a schism between believers
and increasing extremism.

Science is evolving, explaining, frightening and dehumanising. Money
is building, accumulating and dividing. The human dimension is
becoming lost in this globalisation of its being which is diluting and
isolating it. The media are underpinning this abuse of the spirit in
favor of the material. Consumption of television programs is replacing
citizenship, freedom is being stifled and democracy is turning into
autocratic populism. Lies are invading the public arena.

The response of the financial, political and intellectual oligarchies
is formidable and effective: silence those who think. Panem et
circences, food and amusement. Above all, there is new religious
opium...

In my long years of campaigning for a realistic and humanistic change,
the excuse I heard the most often is: ONLY GOD CAN CHANGE THINGS!

So I've come to the conclusion that Christians will never be part of
the solution. They are waiting for God to fix up things while they
think nothing but sin and damnation... NO TO MARIJUANA, NO TO
ABORTION, NO TO PROSTITUTION, NO TO EUTHANASIA, NO TO UNIVERSAL
HEALTHCARE, while they turn a blind eye to the CLEAR AND PRESENT
DANGERS faced by humanity, ie. WAR AND CLIMATE CHANGE.

I try to ride a bike on the road to chip in with the health of the
world and my own, and that remains Quixotic at best or plain martyrdom
at worst. Then I realize they stand by the Hungry Lion that represents
the system, and I see the need to go hunting.

It's risky business, but a man gotta do what a man gotta do... ;)

Let's face it, the average idiot that posts to Usenet does not have the
brains to be an editor, not even of his own posts. You could do it and I
could do it, but why bother? Usenet is for idiots ... so let the idiots

Actually those of us in the right to life movement are more pilloried
for NOT waiting passively for God to change that situation, but rather
to try our best to assist in doing God's work. But be of good cheer.

Here's my "foolish" response:

Living an unhappy life is not a capital offense, still less the bare
possibility that a developing child might be unhappy.

Further regarding "an unwanted birth", moods change over time. That
works in both directions, as wanted children sometimes become unwanted
over time. Maybe bike riding will improve their dispositions.

And of course there's the adoption option.

Hey, Jack, the roads are a jungle!

(The name Jack could represent anyone, particularly a Christian who
goes to church in his SUV)

The Urban Road Is A Dangerous Place

A feisty octogenarian is unrepentantly jaywalking in front of my car.
He’s got a walker, and he’s hacking away with it, as if clearing a
path through the undergrowth with a machete.

I pull to the stop and watch as he progresses toward the opposite
curb. I confess to an admiration of his guts and his energy. I think
about our society’s sedentary ways and hold this man up as an example:
We just don’t have an excuse to sit on our duffs when Jack (as I
imagine he is called) is out here, braving the urban jungle!

Probably half the people (at least) on earth weren't planned or
possibly wanted! It's often not "the right" time to have a child.

At any rate, there are plenty of people in line waiting to adopt.
Seems foolish to me to kill off a child (sorry, "part of a woman's
body") when there are so many others who would want it.

At any rate, the OP did a nice job of very broad, negative definition
of Christians. If such negative characterizations were applied to
Jews, or Muslims or women or Blacks or homosexuals, they'd be called
anti-semitic, anti-muslim, sexist, racist or homophobic.

The yellow in prepared mustard is from turmeric, which contains a
potent, but non-UV-stable, dye. Sunshine takes it out.

My wife dyed some marching band uniforms with turmeric once... then
