Does anyone have a CardioSport brand heart rate monitor?

I am thinking about purchasing a HRM, and I wanted to see
if anyone had comments about the CardioSport's transmitter
(the part that straps around your chest).

I've seen the transmitter for the Polar line of HRMs, and it is
quite slim and light. A salesperson at a local store told me
that they don't carry CardioSport HRMs since they thought that the
transmitter was too big and bulky.

any info is appreciated,

I've used both. My daughter has a Polar and our transmitters work
interchangeable with either monitor. No big diff as far as comfort goes,
but she will take a soaking when it comes time to replace her
transmitters battery.......

I have a cardioSport and I have borrowed a polar. Neither is
really noticeable when running. I bought CardioSport specifically
because I liked the belt. The only problem I've had with the C/S monitor
is interference from LifeCycle stationary bikes. I believe that C/S
wins on features, servicability, and "bigtime" on price. My $0.02 worth.

ps; I ran a half Marathon this morning. It is now mid afternoon and I
just realized I am still wearing my CardioSport.

I need a shower. L8r

I have a cardio-sport 2000. I am 15 years old, and I find the
transmitter to be quite alright when swimming and riding. However,
when I run I have to loosen it so It doesn't feel real tight when I
breath. I have asthma so it could be a bit exagerrated in my case. I
have used Polar's, and I don't think there is that much of a
difference in weight. It is just that the cardio-sport has a button
box, while the POlar unit is longer, and therefore slimmer. I must
admit though, the cardio-sport will start beeping (recording a HR when
the transmitter is not around. It doesn't happen much, but it happened
to be in a math's exam once, with the neart rate ranging from 535 to
12, so I couldn't change the target zone so it wouldn't beep. That
doesnt get you a lot of friends. Apart from that I really like it.

Dan, I bought a Cardiosport last December and it has worked flawlessly
for me. I think there is a lot of hype regarding the size of the
transmitter...so much so that I hear Cardiosport will be introducing a
single peice chest strap-transmitter, like Polar. I really don't think it
makes much difference. The real key difference between Polar and
Cardiosport are; 1) marketing savvy in the U.S. (Polar is the clear
winner), 2) features-per-$ (Cardiosport wins hands down), and 3) the
ability to change the transmitter battery when it goes dead in a year or
so (Cardiosport wins again). Once you get past those three things...its
all the same.

Need some help in finding HRM mail order. Want a good reliable and
inexpensive source. If you prefer a particular brand which one and why?

Ever hear of a brand called CardioChamp by Sensor Dynamics?

Need for running, want target zones, alarms and stop watch function.

Want something reliable and confortable to wear as I have very sensitive
skin and I run in hot, humid conditions up to 2 hours at a time.

Any information or help would be most appreciated.

Hi Rob

I have a Polar Pro-Trainer and in the gym just recently hought that I
was having some weird sort of painless heart attack when my heart rate
when haywire.

I suddenly realised that it was the signals from the excercise cycle
which were causing my HRM to fluctuate.. Phew!

Hi Victor

I have a Polar Pro-Trainer HRM which I would venture to suggest has
most if not all the things that you are seeking.

It has Target zones;

It has alarms both visible and audible for when you are outside the
target.

It has a stop watch Function and also a lap function.

I have found mine to be reliable and comfortable and I do not get any
reactions fromeither the wrist strap or the chest band.

They are also water resistant as they are recommended for swimmers
Triathletes Etc.

Reference cost, I know that they are not the cheapest on the market,
but as in most things I believe that you get mostly what you pay for.
I bought a cheap cycle computer and it was cr*p, when I spent a few
more pounds I got something reliable and efficient.

Sorry can't help you with the mail order part in the States, they are
advertised in all of the mail order bike companies here in the UK.

Just my personal view of the Pro-Trainer that's all.

Regards

Stuart
