Gerry used to be a real person, and they made wonderful sew-it-yourself
kits, great designs and quality materials. When they moved on to making
their own stuff it was very good.

I think they sold out their name years ago; I don't know whether the
current owners have maintained the quality; but the tradition is great!

Remember the packs that they made that were a stack of zippered
horizontal compartments? I wish I had at least tried one.

I disagree with any implication that Gerry Brand is substandard. As I
recall, their Gerry Sweater (don't remember exactly which model) was
ranked #1 for years by various 'raters'. My climbing buddy has one (650
fill) and wears the snot out of it and it's holding up well. I have a
550 fill and it's going strong.

Gerry was the first one to make the 'Michellen Man' looking down jackets
and, for the money, I think they are top of the line. For comparison,
check out Feathered Friends.

The issue here is that Gerry Cunningham was once known for producing
good quality, somewhat innovative gear. Others have suggested that
those days are long gone, as is Gerry himself, and the original poster
wants to know about their current line. I'd move cautiously, and not
base my decision on the Gerry parka I owned in the early 70's, which did
just fine with Lowa Alspitz boots, an MSR Thunderbird (95 cm), Svea 123,
Kelty BB5, Comfy bag, Alpine Designs tent, etc.
