Well, considering that the "Last Airshow!" billboards on US 101 in front
of Moffett prominently feature an F-18 in a rather distinctive blue and
gold paint scheme, don't you think it will be the Thunderbirds? :-)
I just _know_ that's going to be too subtle for somebody, and I'm going to
get email saying "You idiot, the Blue Angels fly blue and gold F-18's,
not the T-Birds! The T-Birds fly the F-15's!"... Ain't USENET grand?

Ever?? :( Is the base closing down, or what?

Yes.
Ok, I'll take the bait... The T-Birds fly the (IMHO) much "slicker"
looking F-16's. Oh, did he mean that as a joke too :-o
Anyway, having gone to a couple of these things at the past, it really
is worth going if your into flying. They get quite a variety of planes
doing passes, and I would expect that this being their last airshow (due
to the imminent departure of the P3 squadrans) that they will really
have a good show. Generally, they'll have demonstrations by P3s,
Harriers, F16s (without the telltale Red White and Blue paint jobs),
F15s and with NASA being on the field, you get to see all sorts of
strange looking airplanes (like a STOL turbine aircraft with the engines
mounted on top of the wing). Of course, they will probably have a few
other people flying in the show as well.
In general, well worth the money (free, if you don't get into the main
bleachers).

P.S. Just remember your sunscreen - I've been scorched there more then
one year... Slow to learn, but the lesson stays with me :-)

Partially. The Navy is shutting down. The airfield will be operated
by NASA. There are discussions about Santa Clara County taking it on
as a possible alternative to Reid-Hillview & Palo Alto. Lots of community
opposition here, though.
