Their prices are no better than I get going to my local shell distributor
and I don't have to pay shipping.

Actually, I use single weight in mine. I was just commenting on the prices.
The price at the local Shell Distrubor is slightly cheaper than the ones on
that web page. While I have to pay sales tax, it's still a whole lot cheaper
than $7.50/case he's paying for shipping.
Thanks, Oscar. The last time I bought a case locally, it was about $48.

I've been using Phillips XC 20W50 in my Cherokee 180 (Lycoming O-360) for
a little over a year, and have been pleased with it thus far. However,
an A&P on the field recently recommended that I use Aeroshell 100W Plus
because it's got the Lycoming additive already in it. (I hadn't been putting
the Lycoming additive in the Phillips XC).
To be honest, I'm still not certain what to think of Aeroshell vs Phillips XC,
or whether or not to use the Lycoming additive. I realize that Lycoming
recommends the use of the additive, but I'm wondering how much of this is
"snake oil" and how much is "real".
Still undecided...

Just wondered what people would say. I believe oil is oil. Some people
get all worked up about using just one brand, yet don't give gas the
same consideration.
Aeroshell has the Lycoming additive to prevent camshaft spalling. By the
time I add that to the Phillips oil, it's not any cheaper. When you add
the fact that my local supplier is usually out of the Phillips oil, it's
no contest.

Worse. Aircraft Spruce sells it for $16.75 per can. My engine takes one
can each oil change.

Before you buy.
Unfortunately, no. PZL doesn't make any parts for 6A-150's or 6A-165's.

Sam's Club here in Daytona sells Aeroshell 100W for about $18/case, 15W50
for about $35/case. They also have Phillips, plus the usual line of
automotive/truck oils.
