Hi Guys,
Ok time for another stupid question. I purchased a set of ultralight
plans that are sketchy, so to say. There are some drawing of how to build
the air frame, contols, and really vaugue Ideas on the wings. The controls
and the air frame I can figure out, but the wings??? I understand how to
construct the wings themselves, what I don't know how to figure out is what
airfoil profile to use. I have the "AirFoil Browser" for my PC and I can
print templets for hundreds of different wings, but which on should I use???
I will appreciate any help!!

thanx in advance

Joe

Hmmm... are you sure you want to risk you neck in this contraption? The
specific airfoil used will significantly effect lift and drag
characteristics, stall speed, angle of attack and several other factors. If
the designer didn't include specific instructions for the contruction of the
airfoils, there is no assurance that your ultralight will perform in a
predictable manner. I would find other plans.

Unless you are in a position to accurately estimate stability and control for a
particular aerofoil, I'd agree with that.

The plans are for a FX Superlight from JFC aircraft. If anyone has any
experiance with this I would like to hear about it.

thanks

The Ultralight that I am building uses a NACA 23015 airfoil..... any
general aviation NACA airfoil will perform more or less the same in planes
that go under a 100 miles an hour...... My Skycraft Scout had a single
surface wing... ie a sail with battens and it flew o.k...... in fact it used
to do 45 knots.
