However, I would have a plate and a motor together and try a template
made from cardboard for the first try to make sure the plate/bars clear
the rather close proximity of the fan and shroud.
The same goes for the 503 if usding a C box, or a belt drive with a
large casting.
The other parts or the motor may interferes with the plate/bars,
requireing some relief be provided.
Another option, not as good, is to use longer mounting studs/bolts and
space the motor away from the plet slightly.
More than a 1/4 of spacer, and I would not be satisfied with the design
personally.
I have seen stacks of washers used as spacers in this situation over the
years and it is really BAD design.
Tall spacers should be a solid piece of stock to assist with shear
loads,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mark
BTW, the 503 is 153 by 94 mm spacing for the mounting bolts.
