I need some help/ideas for a project. Do any of you have any names of
people who are wealthy/famous who operate their own aircraft? They can
either fly it themselves or hire a pilot. The kind of aircraft does not
matter, but the flashier the better.
This is for a aviation related program on a channel that ALL pilots who have
cable or satellite have probably watched at one time or another! Its a good
thing!!
Thanks!!

The Airmen Certification database
(http://162.58.35.241/aadatabase/login.asp) lists a William H Gates without
the address or medical information but says "NOT VALID FOR NIGHT FLYING OR
BY COLOR SIGNAL CONTROL". Not sure if this is THE Bill Gates. There isn't a
listing for William Henry Gates III...
Jim Carrey owns a plane and hires a pilot I hear.
And, Michael Dorn (Worf on Star Trek Next Generation) is a pilot too.
I think he owns and flys a jet trainer of some kind.

We've had this thread before. If you do a Google groups search on the
rec.aviation groups for "celebrity pilot" or "famous pilot", you'll find
lots of hits.
Alex Lifeson of the Canadian rock band Rush is a pilot, and being wealthy
certainly has it's privelages; he's logged stick time in the CF-18 and F-5
with the Canadian Air Force.

I once owned a Cherokee.

He also flies a Caravan on floats to his summer home on Hood Canal (no doubt
this has something to do with the airplane suddenly appearing in Microsoft
Flight Simulator the same year). It is my understanding that he actually
belongs to a club that flies several Caravans out of Boeing Field. His
neighbor at Alderbrook, John Nordstrom (of Nordstrom stores) and his wife
fly his and her Beavers on floats. There was an incident last year when
Nordstrom's wife was landing at Boeing field and her landing gear collapsed,
causing her to run off the runway. Damage was minimal, however.
