Here bozo, I'll give you a clue.

This isn't google groups, this is Usenet. Google happens to
be connected with Usenet, and happens to archive messages, but
what you see at google is not what the rest of the world sees.

You think you're smart, posting an empty message with a new
subject header but no content. Hey, at google it actually changes
the header of the "thread", but that's only because at google
everything is on one webpage.

The rest of the world sees another stupid empty post, that
has no reference to the message you are talking about. You've
changed the subject header without leaving anything to indicate
which message you are talking about. The only way to know is
to look at the headers and dig out the message ID of the post
that you are replying to.

You've just added to the junk by posting a message that has
no purpose at all. It doesn't do what you think it does.

Don't do it again idiot.

It gets worse, because at least some places with newsservers
do keep the spam out to some extent, so when an idiot at
google thinks they are helping, they not only can't do it
right, but they likely may be the only trace of spam in
the newsgroup. Just because google archives the junk
messages doesn't mean the junk messages aren't filtered out
elsewhere.

Michael -

While you raise good points, calling people names and insulting them
doesn't make you look good; and it isn't a good way to get folks to be
helpful.

Dude. Chill.

The Drexel archive makes your position plain. If the change-the-
subject-line trick was misguided, as I now see that it probably was,
my bad. Sorry 'bout that. But going all twelve-year-old over it? Eh.

Thanks, Bob K.

With some people, beating them over the head isn't half enough.

Personally, I like Vista, but I probably won't use it. I like it
because it generates considerable business for me in consulting and
upgrades. As long as there is hardware and software out there that
doesn't work, I stay in business. Incidentally, my company motto is
"If this stuff worked, you wouldn't need me".

Sure - but perhaps ASKING them _before_ beating them over the head
would be a better way to go? I think most civilized societies frown
on sudden violence without at least some civil attempt to resolve
problems first.

Resorting to beating people over the head as the first response
strikes me as selfish, intolerant, and childish. If this were a place
where a bunch of teenagers hung out, I would expect it; but
rec.aviation.soaring seems to be populated mostly by adults...
