Lou:

Thank you for your interest in the S10-V now
available for immediate sale.

The actual base price is 249,000DM. The
$165K base in our SSA classified dates
back to a more favorable DM vs Dollar
exchange rate -- Now it is about $175K and a
change has been sent in to SSA to update
the exchange rate. As you can understand, the
DM fluctuates every month -- we publish an
approximate price, then provide a current
value to serious prospects who contact us --
since the delivery lead times take about 6 mo's,
it is impossible to predict with accuracy the
actual delivered cost in advance, unless the
buyer pays for the plane at time of order.

Any high performance sailplane with advanced
laminar flow wings will suffer a drag increase
when its surface is disrupted by water droplets.
Having flown through a lot of rain in the
vicinity of thunderstorms, I would much rather
be soaring in an S-10 than a C-150 since the glide
ratio of the S-10 is still awesome (albeit less than
with dry, clean wings -- 50:1)!

Each customer is given the opportunity to select
from a wide variety of options. While most are
delivered with a modest selection of additional
"bells and whistles", this particular one is loaded
to the gills!

Some of the extras include: Variable pitch propeller,

HUDIS - Heads up display / competition computer /

vario, Garmin GPS 100, 3 1/8" attitude gyro, Solar
panel for 750 milliamps in flight, Solo wing rigging
(5 minutes from folded in hanger to flight ready),
Dual mountain high O2 systems, and so on. If you
are seriously considering buying it, we have a complete
listing of every item and would be pleased to fax it
out right away.

Also, the base price is FOB Berlin. A new buyer has to
pay for shipping to the U.S. (usually about $6,000), and
various charges for obtaining the U.S. certificate of
airworthiness, etc. In this case, all that work has been
done and the plane is ready to fly away.

In summary, most S-10's arrive at a fully landed price of
less than $200,000. This one is exceptional in the amount
of extras loaded on.

Thanks again for your interest, Lou! We look forward to
helping you get into an S-10 of your own! :-)
