Schlechtes Wetter ?? Was ist schlecht an dreissig Grad ?? Oder wohnst Du
in der falschen Ecke Europas :-)

Bert
Ist das noetig...?
;)

Just in case non-German speakers are wondering what this is all
about...
We are having *rotten* weather here (at least in Northern
Germany).
12 degs Centigrade and the rain is coming horizontally
Typical November weather.
My glider is sulking...
At least I'm off to sunnier climes for a non-flying family holiday
soonish...

November weather in Darmstadt but normal weather in Pinneberg... (I
lived 10 years in Lübeck)

glider sulking and wife happy, because of a lot of time for the family ?

Ummmm But even Lübeck used to have better weather. Hans-Werner
flew from there to Biaritz (spelling) years ago so there must have been
better weather then...

In principle yes, except that due to my recent change of employer
I am traveling a lot on training & so spending a lot of time
going cross-country with Lufthansa.......

Don't forget the bit about the glider trailer ...
Ouch! How'd it happen?

[Loosing a trailer and scaring the shit out of the driver]
Well, I was driving our freshly repaired ASW-20 from the repair
company to the airfield for the check flight. We (me and an
experienced friend) had double-checked that the trailer and the
support wheel were locked correctly.
After twenty kilometers (including highway and ordinary road) within a
village I saw that the trailer didn't go the direction of my car
anymore. I drove a little bit more to the left to get the trailer into
the middle of the street hoping that it would follow led by the
security lash. Bu the trailer went to the right, overtook me,
scratched along a house front, missed a second house and demolated a
complete garden fence before coming to a rest on a small (1") garden
wall with the right wheel. It had rolled about 150 ft - if a person
had been in its way it would have been very hard to survive...
The glider was not damaged (apart from two minor scrathes in the gear
doors), but the trailer is severely damaged (as well as the houses).
We don't know yet why it came apart from my VW Passat (I've got quite
some experience with this car and this trailer), but we suppose that
somehow (not properly locked?) the support wheel lowered itself
(although I didn't feel anything odd).
What a mess.

Speaking of weather; today I just finished the work to certify my new
ASW27 and I flew it for my first time, hoping for a reasonable cross
country flight. Regnen und Donner und Blitzen cut short my first flight
to less time than the test flight at Poppenhausen. Blame it on El Nino
and an INTENSE, early monsoon here.
(BTW, the 27 is a joy to fly)
Cheers,
Carl (IY)

No, we don't have such things... :(

No - the lash was pulled off during the escape of the trailer - it
rolled about 150 ft...
