One of my Club's near Seattle is looking for a second Pawnee if anyone knows of one that'll be coming up for sale.

Thanks,
Charlie

Yep I’ve seen that ad. I am looking more for Pawnee’s that aren’t advertised.

i went to Moberly last week to have a look at this Pawnee. It's still a working spray plane. If you want a unbiased opinion of it, let me know.

We’ve been considering that one. Another club did a pre-buy on it and gave us the pictures. It has a little more corrosion on the tubing then I like to see. There’s one on Controller as well that looks real good until you start digging into it. Does anyone know anything about the Pawnee being advertised in the back of the SSA magazine?

Make a low-ball offer that includes the cost of fixing the corrosion, Pawnees are a bit scarce these days.

Note that banner hitches may or may not be approved for glider towing. Banner-only hitches have a smaller cone of protection from empennage interference.

The hitches are no big deal, having rebuilt 3 Pawnee's, the main concerns should be the frame, which main spar STC does it have and the horizonal stab AD or you can even apply for an AMOC for the stab. Stay away from the Schweizer STC, go with the STC Solutions or the Cozola. The Pawnee is a great towplane, but becoming a bit more scarce . The engine overhaul is kind of expensive, do it right, do not cut corners! I would have my engine sent to a certified repair station and pay to make sure it is done correctly. Stay away from any Hutchison conversion, the droop tips are ok, but add a bit more wing and makes it float a bit on landing.
Stick with the 235, have the higher compression pistons and go with the STC for the straight exhaust, you might just wake up the neighbors but she will pull.

A little bit of a thread drift here. We’re looking for a Pawnee that might not be advertised for sale. Don’t need advice on AD’s and tow hitches. We’re keeping an eye on the usual websites.
The ideal Pawnee would be from the late 60’s, mid-time or lower engine, decent fabric, the three big AD’s complied with, Tost hitch and squared off wing tips.
