Try Sailplane Adventures at (404) 879-2555. They're located just on the
east side of Stone Mountain, at the Stone Mountain Airport. They have a
spiffy brand-new Super Blanik which flies nicely, and the view of Stone
Mountain this time of year is not to be missed!
Sailplane Adventures is a commercial operation, and to my knowledge the
only group in the area that provides glider rides. Once you're bitten by
the glider bug you should call the Mid-Georgia Soaring Association in
Monroe (east of Loganville). They have a neat package for glider
pilots: one-time initiation fee of $500, $240 annual dues. Annual dues
include membership in the Soaring Society of America and a subscription
to SOARING magazine. The initiation fee can be paid in two installments
six months apart. What you GET for those dues is unlimited weekend
glider time in one of their club ships-- a Grob 103, Grob 102, Schweizer
1-34, and Blanik L-13. Towing is extra but reasonable, and done by a
260hp Pawnee with STOL wingtip extensions. (I'm just passing this info
along--to the best of my knowledge, it was correct as of last July.)
I understand training is available--check with them to find out for sure.
Contact Charles Dewald, MGSA President at: (404) 621-0522
or Wallace Berry, MGSA Secretary at: (706) 369-7354
I'd welcome any additional or corrected information from MGSA members.

Franklin,
There are two places in the metro Atlanta to take a glider ride. One is
at Stone Mountian Airport. An organization gives rides on monthly basis
from this air port.
Second place is Mid Georgia Soaring in Monroe GA, 25+ miles east of
Atlanta out GA 78. This is soaring club that used to be private but
now does instruction. The operate on the weekends. Give the fixed base
operator at the Monroe Airport for direction to the airport and a
number to contact Mid Ga.
Frank
What about the Atlanta Soaring Club, that I think is up near Rome....
