Hi everybody,

A friend of mine just purchaed a Ventus 2 C/18 and asked me to poke
around for its polar on the net.

Has anybody run across such information.

Thanks,

You might have to wait for Dick Johnson to test one.
Even the brochure says "not yet measured" for best L/D value.
For some reason the Germans seem reluctant to release any performance
data (even factory guesstimates)for the gliders released in the last 3
years or so.
I find it difficult to believe that the factories haven't done their
own in house testing. The conclusions you draw from this are your own.

There is a polar for the 15 meter version (measured by Bill Bartell) at
http://www.sciflyusa.com/flttest3.html. The 18 meter version probably is
a little better at the low speed end of the polar. Dick Johnson also did
a test of the 15 meter Ventus 2. However, something must have been wrong
with the plane he measured, as he found the performance was a lot worse
than one would expect.

I think that Dick is just about right on. Dick's measurements showed
little difference between the Ventus 2 and the earlier Ventii.
The Ventus 2 is reputed to handle better in thermals as compared to the
Ventus B.
However it doesn't seem to have an edge over the Ventus B in straight
flight, at least in the strong conditions of Arizona.
I would trade if someone offered me one, but I don't feel very
disadvantaged racing against them (not nearly as much a disadvantage as
the pilot causes).
