Greetings from historic Harris Hill, near Elmira, New York!
Arrived after driving 2,412 miles from Marfa in southwest Texas, by way of the wonderful Vintage Sailplane Rally at Lawrenceville, Illinois.
I’ll assemble my Schleicher ASK-13 this Friday or Saturday and probably give 20 or more rides again with the optional open cockpit.
Anyone who helps me assemble it gets a ride! (Or disassemble it quickly back into the trailer if rain or wind is forecast.)
Yes, it might rain but if it does, that’s more time for camaraderie with the colorful characters that build, restore and fly these colorful sailplanes.
Plus meet old friends, have a reunion of fellow members of “Goofy’s Glider Club" and make new friends.
Visit our wonderful National Soaring Museum on Harris Hill, a sponsor of our International Vintage Sailplane Meets since 1995.

IVSM 2021 International Evening will be this Sunday, July 12 on Harris Hill at the “Youth Camp” building built by the CCC in the 1930's.
Folks from around the world will bring something to eat or drink from their home country or state. Lot’s o’ fun.
I'll be giving away tasty "Moon Pies" which are somewhat indigenous to Texas. Maybe RC Cola if I can find some up here.
“RC Cola and a Moon Pie” was a popular song in the early 1950’s.

July 19 into August: My trip back to Marfa in southwest Texas takes me to the Cleveland Soaring Club and to the Soar Indy Club near Indianapolis.
I’ll stop by Wabash Soaring, home of our Vintage Sailplane Association, to see if anyone is flying there, near Lawrenceville in southeast Illinois.
I’m just another wandering aviator . . . enjoying my exceptionally lucky life!
