Hi

I am a student pilot who is heading to Europe in the spring and would
like to take the opportunity to do some soaring in the most scenic parts
of Switzerland and Germany. Would appreciate any thoughts on the following:
- best scenic soaring sites
- commercial operations that offer rides
- anything else you can think of

Thanks Ken

The popular Schweitzer spot is Vinon.

Dont know about Southern Deutchland. My family is from Essen.

If you can make the not so long trip, St Aubain on the French side is breathtaking scenery.

But it depends on what specifically you want to do.

Are these all club gliders or are some of them private? I love the
restaurant and what looks like a great playground for kids. We have
playground here at our glider field too. It's a gravel square about 3x4
meters under a baking desert sun.

I'm flying in a diffrent club. I'm not sure but I think they belong to the club.
It's the biggest soaring airport in switzerland and the teach flying the whole year even on working days as far as i know. I think its a good place to some flights in switzerland as guest.

A nice little airfield, just across the border from Switzerland.
Flying from Schaenis is all well and good, but rather expensive.
We do winching and aerotows, and have great access to the Black Forest and Schwaebisch Alp.

Cheers

uuuum no, they speak french and it's a very long drive from southern germany. You might be lucky to meet some Swiss tourists there that speak swiss german.
