Peter- I'm a US glider pilot and am curious about the meaning of an expression
in your posting. What does "full kit available" mean?
Thanks for the help in my trying to understand-

Oh yes there were! Plenty of them built. One of the nicest ships you'd
ever get to fly. She'd trim up in a thermal and then you could let go and
have lunch while she did all the work!

A beautiful Open Cirrus is for sale.
This has to be one of the most pleasant to fly and "gentle" gliders around.
Great performance, easy to rig and fantastic value for money.
Currently based at Gransden Lodge UK but the whole kit is for sale.
For more details contact bryan...@hotmail.com

A great ship. Find a copy of the video 'Sunship Games' and watch one do a
real short turn from base to final and drag the wing tip on the runway
during the whole turn. Beautiful ship.

My wife didn't like to rig it, she said she was standing as tall as she
could, was on her tippy toes and I was still asking to move the tip up;
they bend very well.

A great ship with plenty of room.

Still wondering about the serial number of this Open (class) Cirrus that
started this thread!

You're just too young. If you can get a copy of the old video "The Sunship Game" which though very dated, every soaring pilot should see, you will see George Moffat flying his Open Cirrus.

Two points:

* The post to which you are responding was put up in 1999. So Shane is now fifteen years older.

* I think that Shane has a point in that the "Open" in "Open Cirrus" is an informal designation, and the factory never called them that. The term seems to have been a retronym that later came into use when it was necessary to differentiate the original Cirri from their later Standard-class brethren.

Thanks, Bob K.

Regarding the naming convention, I had drawings for the tips added to the Cirrus modified by Moffat that were labeled as Cirrus B. They went with the glider.

"Full Kit" means it comes with everything you need to fly and all the extra's most ships accumulate over time.

Believe I still have a mounted rear canopy for an open Cirrus and a clear forward canopy. I'm in Placerville, Ca. Where are you and what's your e-mail address?
