Hi everybody,

Does anyone know if any progress had been made in the functionality to show Skysight WX on XCSoar (in a similar way to how Skysight WX can be displayed on a LX9000)?

That would make an extremely useful improvement.

Thanks,

Bogdan

There have been multiple integrations written by various people, but none have been upstreamed into the official XCSoar project as of yet.
I have flown with the patchset from Caz, you can find builds of it here http://www.caztech.com/glider/xcsoar/skysight/

Thanks a lot Matt,

I installed it and seems to work really well.

Fantastic job you are doing with Skysight, thanks for that too.

Best wishes,

Bogdan

This is a nice development.

I installed http://www.caztech.com/glider/xcsoar/skysight/android/20200319/ on my Note 10 and it "works", but the weather overlay color pixels are huge, about 3 miles across, so it's not readable. I hope there's a fix.

Is there a gesture to toggle the activated weather overlay on and off?

A couple notes on installing from http://www.caztech.com/glider/xcsoar/skysight/:
1) Chose the latest date release, not the "Android" folder which has an earlier version which doesn't work at all on my phone.
2) Change your skylines password to all caps, because XCSoar demands all caps in its text fields.

Matt, can you point us to some other integrations we can try?

Hi All,

Does anyone have any updates about other integrations of Skysight WX data on XCSoar?

(the link at caztech.com does not seem to work anymore)

I found this function extremely useful last year....it'a a pity I can't use it any more...

Thanks,

Bogdan

I put Skysight on my Samsung phone as an experiment but I won't be using
that in the cockpit. I may still try it on my Dell Streak 5 running
Android 3 but I"ll bet it won't work. Why bother? I have a ClearNav II
and I very large bubble canopy to look at the weather.

It was close to 20 years after they came out that I added a moving map.
Sure, I like it but I don't need it. That said, I'll start looking at
Skysight in the cockpit in around 2042. I'll be 93 then so I probably
won't be flying.

In 2042, we’ll be looking down at the weather, not up.

... maybe so, but not from a glider!
