The Cambridge GPS-NAV software that I am using (latest version) is a pain in
the neck to run in the Windows world we live in. Is there any Windows based
software out there that can be used with the Cambridge system.

I know I'm not the only one out there dealing with the problems of trying to
switch back and forth between DOS and Windows configurations.

I've been using TaskFinder for several years now, after reviewing it for S&G.
It's come on a long way since I reviewed it. It's now Windows 95 and 32 bit
software (possibly the only such software), with lots of useful features. It
works with any .IGC file. There is a whole suite of related gliding programs
as well, for calculating how far you can good given the current weather,
setting a task and analysising your flight..

There's a web site at http://home.clara.net/eagle where you can get details,
screen shots and prices. I think an update is due out soon. To the best of my
knowledge, everyone at my club with a flight recorder uses TaskFinder. Mainly
because Taskfinder supplies updates with new features at regular intervals, and
it works well.

Yes

TaskNAV for Windows95/98/NT is about to be released. It even downloads your CAI
GPS logger.

Have you reset the prog properties so it cannot
detect windows and turned of the hot keys?
This usually allows most dos based progs
to run in an enclosed memory area within w95/98
in a dos window.

Ken is adding some thermal strength and distribution analysis features and
views. Still the best, most complete package on offer.
