Dear fellow rec.aviation.soaring buffs. Today is my last day on the
intenet for a while. I have just graduated from the University of Puget
Sound in Tacoma, WA with a degree in Marine Biology. However, I will be
starting my new job working for CADMUS CORPORATION selling Gliders and
Powered aircraft next monday. I am really excited!! So feel free to give me
a call at the office. See you at the airfield and Happy landings to you
all!!

PZL BIELSKO SAILPLANE PRICE LIST

SZD 50-3 "PUCHACZ" (OWL) 2-seat primary and advanced training sailplane
Price (Basic Equipped): $49,500 delivered at USA assembly point

"World's best value in a CERTIFIED, PRODUCTION two-place aerobatic
sailplane." The Puchacz features beautifully finished fiberglass
construction, a quiet, comfortable tandem cockpit, and exceptional handling
qualities. This combination of characteristics has established the Puchacz
as one of the world's favorite two-place sailplanes. For U.S. and Canadian
customers, the Puchacz is FAA and Transport Canada type accepted, plus it
is approved for extended aerobatics included inverted flight and rolling
manuvers. It is solidly built of fiberglass epoxy composite and protected
by a durable urethane finish. It is among the easiest two-place sailplanes
to assemble. A single pin secures the wings in place. Rigging the tailplane
is even easier, with a spring loaded locking pin automatically securing the
assembly. The spacious cockpit has adjustable front rudder pedals and an
adjustable rear seat to accommodate pilots of all sizes. The one piece,
side opening canopy provides outstanding visibility for both pilots. The
real secret to the Puchacz popularity is its excellent handling qualities
both on the ground and inflight. Flight instructors and experienced
pilotsoften describe the Puchacz as the nicest flying two-place sailplane
they have ever flown. Fly it once, we think you will agree! Load Factors:
+5.3/-2.65, Glide ratio: 29:1, Design life: 6,000 hours, Factory warranty:
18 months.

SZD 51-1 "Junior" Single-seat "Club" and Training Sailplane (15 M)
Price (Basic Equipped): $34,500 delivered at USA assembly point

"The best Club single ever!" With safe and docile handling qualities the
junior is specifically designed for solo, recreational flying, and sport
category competition. It features a large and comfortable cockpit with a
more upright seating position prefered by club pilots, a fixed undercarrage
with an oversized tire to soften the landing and a extremely strong
fiberglass epoxy composite airframe. The Junior is FAA CERTIFIED and in
FULL production. Load factors: +5.3/-2.65, Glide ratio: 33:1, Design life:
9,000 hours, Factory Warranty: 18 months.

SZD 55-1 "Senior" Standard Class Competition Sailplane (15 M)
Price (Basic Equipped): $47,500 deliverd at USA assembly point

"A serious contender for the title of World's Best!" The senior is a very
modern high performance Standard Class sailplane designed for the serious
competition pilot. At the same time, its exceptional handling qualities
(characteristic of all PZL gliders) make it a perfect plane for both
aeroclubs and intermediate pilots. Its outstanding performances in a wide
range of soaring conditions constantly places it at the top in
international soaring competitions. The Seniors exceptional performance has
been achevied through the use of the highly advanced trapezoid/elliptical
wing planform, and specially designed NN-27 aifoil. Equally important are
advances in engineering and manufacturing technology which result in a very
low empty weight (215 kg) without sacrificing strength or relying on exotic
materials. The 55 can carry up to 195 kg of water ballast and can be
precisely trimmed using the stick mounted elevator trim. The 55-1
"Senior"...its the one you fly if you fly to win! Load Factors: +5.3/-2.65,
Glide ratio: 43:1(measured), Factory warranty: 18 months.

SZD 56 "Diana" 15 Meter Competition Sailplane
Price (Basic Equipped) $64,500 delivered at USA assembly point

"The most technologically advanced production sailplane in the world."
The SZD 56 Diana is a new generation racing class sailplane designed to
provide a much higher level of performance than had previously been
achieved by any other 15 M sailplane. It is impossible to describe the SZD
56 without using superlatives... words like: "Lightest", "strongest",
"Highest Peformance". With an empty weight of only 175 kg, the SZD 56 is in
fact the lightest competition sailplane in the world. Yet, its structure
surpasses the requirements of JAR-22 and FAA-23 utility category
certification, by a wide margin. The SZD 56 "Diana" has a 48.9:1 glide
ration with a minimum sinking speed of less than 0.5 meters per second. It
has a extremely low drag airfoil and a 17.6 wing aspect ratio, of sparless
construction. The SZD 56 was the choice of the Polish National Team for
this years worlds.....Believe me, with the "Diana" don't be suprised if
they take home the gold!!! Will be certified by the US FAA in May of 1995.
Factory Warranty 18 months.

SZD 59 "ACRO" Single Seat Fully Aerobatic Sailplane
Price (Basic Equipped) $ TBA delivered at USA assembly point

"The best in aerobatic and soaring performane at an affordable price"
The SZD 59 ACRO is a dual-purpose single-seat all-composite sailplane. With
the detachable wingtips installed, the ACRO has the same excellent handling
and soaring qualities as the legendary PZL Standard Jantar, from which it
was derived. In this configuration it is a classic 15 M sailplane with a
glide ratio of 41:1. But when the wingtips are removed, (a simple
two-minute task) the SZD 59 transforms into a 13.2 meter, fast rolling,
unlimited aerobatic glider, which can perform just about any maneuver you
can imagine. FAA certified May 1995. load factor: +7/-5, top speed 285
km/h, factory warranty 18 months.

Hey Dave - hey gliding fans
I agree with you that PZL planes are quite good. A friend of mine has an SZD55
an it is (IMHO) better than our DISCUS. But there are a few points, that should
be improved (thats why it is still not certified in germany).
I dont know the prices in germany, but those you told us are quite expansive.
The SZD55 costs arround 50.000 DM what means ca. 30.000 $ and I cant believe
that shipping costs 17.000 $. So there is no reason to by in US because the
prices here in europe are much lower.
Please excuse my horrible english

In which way? I doubt that the 55 is superior to the Discus in glide ratio.

Mr. Kawik (Moenchengladbach, Germany) told me, the 55 with basic
instrumentation costs 58,000.00 DM plus VAT (15% in Germany these days).
