Heres the latest poop Nathan. Don't get your panties in a wad, it's
coming, and according to the few who get advance copies to test, it's
worth the wait.
*Latest Info On Pro Pilot Patches*
There is patch 1 named (pppatch.exe) which is a final version to
bring
the software up to version 1.01. It has Auto Pilot Problems. There
is patch 2 named (pp12beta.exe). It is a wide area beta patch, which
means it
is not the final version of the patch. It has been made available to
those
who wish to use it and report problems to Sierra by sending email to
prop...@sierra.com. The auto pilot is much better in this patch, and
there are enhancments to the GPS functions, plus other stuff. It also
includes a new Cessna aircraft. It is the latest and is definitely
better
than patch # 1. The Auto Pilot works pretty well. The final version
of
this latest patch is due out in a week to ten days as of March 27,
1998,
according to the latest we have heard from Sierra. There are
official
beta testers who get a new build of the main executable program as
the developers add new code. Information received from these airplane
drivers, is that flight models and aircraft performance is greatly
improved.
I understand from Sierra that they are going to do some more work on
the Auto Pilot before releasing the final version which will bring you
up
to version 1.02. The developers will begin work on the third patch
after
the release of the final version of the second one. Our understanding
is that the third patch is going to zero in on improving ATC, among
other
things. You can download the patches from several places. One being:
http://www.avsim.com
Go to "Simming" and then "FTP Library."
Install the latest patch in a clean installation of Pro Pilot without
any other
patches installed. After you download it, copy it into your Pro Pilot
folder
and then either run it with the run dialog box under Start / Run in
Windows
95 or go into explorer and double click on it.
I will update and repost this document when there is new news.

If you have loaded no patches, you are on 1.0
If you have loaded the first patch called pppatch.exe you are on 1.01
If you are running the second patch pp12beta.exe you are on the beta version of
1.02
Don't know why the about screen does not reflect that, but I'll see if I can
shake the tree and get something to fall out on that issue.
