Throttle in fsim98

Since switching from win 95 to win 98, throttle control does not work on
flight simulator 98..!? Everything else runs just fine, but NOT the throttle.
Throttle works on monstertrucks game and in calibrating mode, but game
options in ms-fsim98 doesn't allow changes to the throttle on the Logitech,
which isn't "numbered". I'm using Logitech wingman extreme digital, hooked
up to sb awe64. Tried it all, reinstalling, patchfiles, bugfixers, driver
updates..you name it.
