Cambridge, MA, March 9, 1998 Looking Glass Studios, creators of the
award-winning Flight Unlimited series of flight simulators, today
announced the
late-March availability of enhancements for Flight Unlimited II.
Additions to the critically-acclaimed flight sim will include a new
plane,
new adventures, an adventure builder kit and enhancement patch 1.04.
These
enhancements will be available on Looking Glass? Web site located at
http://www.lglass.com.
The sixth plane available for Flight Unlimited II will be the
Fokker
DR.I Triplane. Flown during World War I, the Fokker is ideal for
barnstorming and aerobatic maneuvers. Five new adventures will also be
available from Looking Glass. Highlights of these missions include Foo
Fighter, where the pilot and special agent Mox Fulder have to
investigate
possible extraterrestrial activities; and Dr. Yes, an adventure where
pilots ferry British special agent Boston Flowers on a covert mission.
Additionally, with the Adventure Builder Kit gamers can design their own

missions with hoops courses, audio triggers and objects.

Enhancement patch 1.04 adds water splash effects and moving ground
objects, creating a dynamic environment on the ground as well as in the
air. Artificial Intelligence refinements include improved performance
of
AI controlled planes and better communication through the Air Traffic
Control system. Programmable force feedback joystick support is
provided
for Logitech Wingman Force, CH Force, and Microsoft Sidewinder Pro force

feedback controllers. The patch also includes enhanced hardware
accelerator support for Power VR and Riva.

I really really hope that "better communication through the Air
Traffic Control system" includes a working Vectors ILS. It
would really be disappointing if it didn't.

Any info anybody ... Constantine?

Yes indeed, the patch will include working vectors ILS, as well as many
other AI fixes and tweaks.
We want this to be as solid as possible before releasing. It's in testing
going through a full SQA
cycle. We're on track and barring any major problems, it should be
available within the next 2 - 2 1/2
weeks.

Cheers,

Constantine

Take your time LGS... I can wait for ILS vectors.

Having too much fun VFR & sightseeing to fly in clouds anyway!

Speaking of patches, I have a question/wish. When flying, is
there a way to activate the radio to input a new freq without having to
click on it? I know that Alt+F will let you switch freqs, but when I'm
flying in bad weather and having a hard time keeping control, it's really
a pain having to let go of the stick, move the mouse to click on the radio
(which is hard to do because the stick is in the way) and then enter the
new freq. So is there a command I'm missing? Is there any way to set the
game up so that I can make my own command? Or can LG maybe include
something like this in the next patch. Maybe I'm just going about things
the wrong way, but I kinda like having to "dial in" a freq to communicate.
Heck, I don't even care if it's something like Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N (I'll judt
program my stick) but I would really like to be able to do this without
using Alt+F (It doesn't always switch to the one I need anyway). Any
help?

With the patch applied you can cycle through the frequency windows by
pressing [TAB].

The tab button will cycle through radio, ILS, NAV and transponder.

Hope this helps.

Tabbing thru the freq. at one airport is fine, but it would also be nice if
LGS could add a key to open the cursor on the comm radio, then you wouldn't
have to touch the mouse. just hit the key and then type in the freq.

it would make the hand off that much easier.

Fly with your left hand and mouse with the right.....just like the real thing
(ie: right hand for trim/throttle/flaps etc. from the left seat).

Cheers!

Fly with your left hand; Click/type with your right hand.

It's kinda hard to do that when my flightstick is molded for the
right hand. Hitting Tab will work just fine, thanks. (Besides, I'm
playing MSFS98 right now.)
