I'm afraid you're mistaken. I don't forge posts.

Altered Headers
Falsifying header lines to obscure the originating server, to attribute a
post to someone else, to falsely indicate moderator approval, or to make an
original post look like a followup are serious abuses of our service and
will result in immediate account termination
Also, I just noticed their acceptable use polity prohibits trolling:
Trolling
Trolling is the practice of maliciously trying to incite others that use a
newsgroup, to deviate from the stated topic of the group. In other words,
trolling is an attempt to anger others to the point of drawing them into an
argument or an off topic debate. Giganews does not tolerate trolling and
will terminate service of those who abuse the service in this manner.
Already done.

I saw it too, but THAT is hard to believe! Mxmoron has pissed off what
would probably constitute a major city population, is still "on the air",
and I'm sure a good percentage has been pissed enough to complain.
Maybe they have a "3,000,000 strikes and you're out" policy? :)
>Mx has forged my moniker on several postings in the sim group, ...
Identity theft is a serious crime. Unless you are able to support
your allegation with incontestable fact, you are guilty of libel, for
which you are open to prosecution, sir.
Who would be the victim? Someone with the initials Mx?
Forging USENET monikers is "identity theft"? Worse, it's a crime? And
falsely accusing one of forging said monikers is libel?
Sir, I think you need to step into the real world yourself. :)

If a person can be damaged by posts forged with his pseudonym, then a person
can be damaged by accusations directed to his pseudonym. You cannot have your
cake and eat it, too.

I didn't complain because I didn't know they had an anti-trolling policy.
Maybe I'll turn off my filter and see if he's still trolling....

Damn... that didn't take long.
The flight simmer thinks forged headers and libel are the same thing.
Don't bother responding. I'll never see it.

You'd have to show some sort of damage to use these appellations.
If a person posts with a name that clearly associates the post with a real
person (or allows this to be done easily), and someone impersonates him in a
post using the same name, with a post that damages his reputation, he may have
a claim against the forger.
Similarly, if a person false accuses someone of forgery and this results in
some sort of real-world prejudice against that person (cancellation of an
account, trouble with an employer, etc.), then the person accused also has a
claim.
If it's just a matter of trading worthless insults in cyberspace alone, there
generally is nothing to justify legal action.
If you think someone is forging your posts, and you wish to complain, there
are some things you should keep in mind. First is that, unless it is a very
egregious case of forgery that does real damage to you, most ISPs and
providers will ignore your complaints. Second is that, if it does damage you
in some way, you need to be able to provide that objectively; hurt feelings
and pride do _not_ count. Third is that, if your posts are being forged, you
can point out the forgery and complain about it, but don't accuse anyone of it
specifically unless you have objective proof--because, if you are wrong, and
the other person suffers any damage as a result of your accusation, you could
find yourself in quite a bit of hot water, much more than you bargained for.
Forging a usenet post isn't anything like a crime, and believe me,
I've seen plenty of it. Unless the forger actually uses another
poster's e-mail addie, it isn't even forging. It's known as "frogging"
in fact.... Making statements like you just have above will get you
nothing but a CNOTM award.
Or fruitcake in your case.

I'm absolutely certain Mxmoron has heard every legal defense possible!!!
How could a no account piece of shit like this have survived otherwise??
so do you have any actual proof that it was him that forged your name,
or did your mind just go "hmm, someone posted a message on a usenet

blame it on, OH I KNOW IT MUST BE THAT MX GUY EVERYONE HATES!!!" I

Not even worthy of my sig line.

Absolutely priceless. Buttman posts an excellent synopsis of the incident,
and simultaneously describes a good portion of the Usenet aviation
"community", and this fool throws a temper tantrum. He heard the truth and
cannot accept it, so he plonks the messenger. Absolutely priceless.
Even you can do the simple header comparisons. Unless there really is
someone who lives in France, uses the same ISP, lives in the same area,
subscribes to Giganews, uses Forte, has identical propogation paths,
/AND/ has had scuffs with Don before, /WITH/ the intent to cause mayhem
in the group, then there is only one likely conclusion.
Either it's him, or one of you coots is a really good hacker.
But of course, why verify fact when you can run to the rescue of your
butt-buddy!

A third possibility is that you don't know how to read USENET headers.

Odd that you should suggest verifying something when you are wildly
speculating without any verification yourself.
Why don't you send all the headers of the forged posts to GigaNews and ask
them where the posts actually came from? They might tell you, although forged
posts are so common and generally so innocuous that a lot of providers will
simply throw away most complaints. If they do tell you, report back here.
I see your NNTP header analysis skills match your piloting and fishing
skills (non-existent).

You hope.
There is no third possibility, only that it was you or was not you. And
buddy, you suck at not being you.

I could send you a copy of the OED and a first-year book on logic, but
quite frankly, I don't have enough faith in your intrinsic ability to
read, let alone understand.

Why offer justification for actions you "didn't" do?
What's next, going to play cancel wars? Those are "common" and
"innocuous", too.
TheSmokingGnu

I've already explained how to complain to the provider. You won't find out
who forged the posts by complaining about it here.
> You hope.
It makes no difference to me. I don't forge posts myself, and if someone does
something that actually damages me in some way, I don't depend on e-mail to
get things done.
> > forged
> > posts are so common and generally so innocuous that a lot of providers will

> Why offer justification for actions you "didn't" do?
I'm not. I don't usually use e-mail for complaints, and I explained why.
People complain _constantly_ to service providers, and most of the complaints
are trivial and baseless. Impersonation is usually not a big deal, because
most people use pseudonyms, anyway, and it's hard to connect a pseudonym to a
person. Additionally, unless the impersonation has consequences in the real
world, there's not much basis for any real-world action. People get upset and
feel that "something must be done," but apart from hurt feelings and egos,
typically the impersonation has no effect.
I recommend that people who really don't want to be impersonated rely upon
digital signatures to establish their online identities. If I want to show
unambiguously that I wrote a post, I digitally sign it. If it doesn't matter,
I don't (the usual case). Any post not digitally signed by me may be a
forgery.
> What's next, going to play cancel wars? Those are "common" and

You're operating under a number of misconceptions.
