That will depend on the year/model of 172 would suggest a quick glance
in the poh of the a/c in question

with flaps up. In the utility category, it's +4.4 and -1.8 G.

All certified American aircraft are designed to meet either normal, utility
or aerobatic g envelopes.
Particularly large or heavy aircraft are allowed with lower than normal stress
multipliers - but don't tell the passengers.
