In my opinion, a pilot's stupidity, arrogance, and macho attitude, not
their sex, are what make a dangerous pilot.
Based on that criteria I think it is this guy who shouldn't fly.
In my opinion, a certain minimum of intelligence is required to fly.
Let's say at least as much as is required to recognize obvious,
simple, primitive flamebait which is actually mildly humorous.
Based on that criterion, I think it's the people who actually
responded to the flamebait that shouldn't fly.
Anyone know if the oral has a humor requirement? Maybe it should.

Come on, scot.. don't carry us back to the stone ages..
These women-folk do quite well, and piloting is one of the better
examples . And I'm a 'liberated male'-- & pilot --

Just a reminder:
Who was the first person to solo the Atlantic East to West?
SHE was the late Beryl Markham.
Read her book, "West With the Night", she was also a magnificent writer.
I've had a Commercial Ticket almost 30 years, my last ICC was with a CFII MEI
who just happens to be female (and younger than my logbook), Pam Perdue.
She did just fine (so did I).
Someone's potential role in the reproductive process has absolutely nothing to
do with their ability to fly an aircraft.

Except that there is a lot of controversy concerning the authorship.
Seems Markham may not have actually written "West With the Night".
It's a good book anyway. Anybody know more about this?

Best evidence is that she wrote it, following advice on style and such
from one of the men she was associated with at the time. Pick up a copy
of _Straight on 'til Morning_; that's Markham's biography, and it's also
a good read.

Posting from home now...
Thanks George
I'm looking through "The Lives of Beryl Markham" by Errol Trzebinski
and there are numerous references to Ms. Markham's notes. (some
NOT used for the book.) I just want to point out that her discussion of what
flying meant to her was what reminded me of what flying means to me. Got
me back in the air in the Fall of 1993 after 16 years on the ground. 8^)
As for the writing...
"...As it is, she has written so well, and marvelously well, that I was
completely ashamed of myself as a writer. I felt that I was simply a
carpenter with words......But she can write rings around all of us..."

And she could fly too!
