Oh, while Jim's asking questions...

I seem to remember reading a recent Kitplanes, and
Jim W said that the channel spacing for airband was
40kHz. Or did I just dream this?

Not 25kHz? (720 channel)

Sorry if this has been covered before...I'm in the UK and
don't get my Kitplanes until 2 or 3 of them have collected
in some warehouse and sent across on the same ship.

No, Dave Martin, my editor, misread something I wrote and said that the channel
spacing was 40 kHz.. What I said was that there are 40 channels per Megahertz,
which works out to a channel spacing of 25 kHz.. (1E6 ÷ 40 = 25E3)

Dave, a pretty fair electroniker in his own right (amateur extra and all) has
blushedly apologized to me and to everybody who wrote in. My blushings to you
on his behalf.

Jim

Ah, I can feel the heat off the red faces. No mean feat,
being on opposite sides of the pond...

I knew there had to be some explanation. I speculated
that it might include the usual late nights, early mornings
and lack of caffeine. Affecting someone, anyway.

don't you just hate it when editors have to shorten an article for space..
and change the whole meaning of the sentence?
