Notable publishers have graciously permitted the use of resources within the TW collection to be distributed to those specifically assigned the work of Bible Translation.

When you use translators to communicate with non-native English speaking employees, you enable them to do their best possible work so that they can do their jobs well. Doing so will not only alleviate any possible employee frustrations, but it will also ensure that your business continues to run smoothly.


Note, too, whether the translation has to be certified or notarized. A certification means that the translation used the original document and is complete and accurate. A notarization means that the translation was certified in the presence of a notary, someone appointed by the government to take action in legal affairs. Not all translators can provide notarized translations.


Before you hire a professional translator, remember that you can do a lot of this translation work directly in the Yourco product. A platform like Yourco is the most convenient and affordable option to translate text message conversations with your non-native English speaking employees. Yourco not only translates each word, but it can also pick up on colloquial phrases.


Note, too, that some translators charge by the word while others charge by the hour. Average rates per word tend to be $0.08-$0.15, and the average rates per hour range from $24.32-$56.31. English-to-Spanish translations typically cost $0.11 per word and $33.52 per hour. English-to-French translations typically cost $0.11 per word and $35.34 per hour.


BART is an interactive source language Bible program. It is a translation research tool that provides access to the original Greek and Hebrew texts. BART makes it easier for translators with limited knowledge of Hebrew or Greek to recognize the presence of certain features in the source text. It is our hope that by using BART translators around the world will use the Greek and Hebrew languages as their source text, rather than versions in European languages, with resulting improvements in their draft translations.


BART is an interactive source language Bible program. It is a translation research tool that provides access to the original Greek and Hebrew texts. BART makes it easier for translators with limited knowledge of Hebrew or Greek to recognize the presence of certain features in the source text. Bart can automatically scroll to the same verses as Paratext.


The Digital Bible Library is a digital, global repository for scripture translations. It holds a collection of 3000 texts from more than 1850 different languages. Paratext provides translators with access to translation resources through partnership with the Digital Bible Library.


USFM (Unified Standard Format Markers) is the most common Scripture markup standard within the Bible translation community for identifying the unique textual elements which exist within an electronic scripture document. By following this standard, translators can easily export, print, and share their translation in many different media forms.






Diversity and inclusion have become a key part of the workplace management dialogue. Organizations of all sizes, across all lines of business, struggle to attract diverse talent and build inclusive workforces.


Suppose a company has a native Spanish speaker who only feels comfortable speaking English in the office? A Muslim employee who is uncomfortable fasting around co-workers? Or a Polish staff member who feels the need to hide his or her accent? To build a culture of inclusion, a company must foster a workplace in which all individuals feel like they can be themselves.


In a workplace in which individuals have different language competencies, this linguistic diversity can easily lead to communication challenges. Ultimately, a truly inclusive workforce is one in which employees are comfortable receiving information and expressing themselves in the language they are most competent speaking. So employers are making efforts to translate materials into the languages spoken by employees.


To create an equitable workplace, many companies are translating workplace materials to ensure all employees have the same information about policies and procedures, job responsibilities, company objectives, and safety measures. This often encompasses the materials employees rely on to do their job safely and effectively. It may also include the materials employees interact with regularly, that help educate them about the company culture, values, and goals.


In civilian workplaces, cursing is generally frowned on and can result in negative personnel action. While this language may be common in military life, swearing during a disagreement in the civilian sector is grounds for a call to human resources. Swearing off-handedly can also be grounds for disciplinary discussions. Understand your environment, the personality of your co-workers and the culture of the organization before using certain language. It is always wise to keep your conversations professional.


The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently found that a college campus discriminated against janitors by failing to translate employment policies and disciplinary documents into Spanish. Twelve Hispanic employees of the Auraria Higher Education Center filed a complaint with the EEOC, alleging that Auraria denied them knowledge of the terms and conditions or their employment and put them in danger by not translating information into Spanish. The employees further alleged that they were unable to explain workplace conflicts because Auraria did not provide translators at staff meetings. In response, Auraria claimed that it does not have an English-only policy, that translations are allowed in the workplace, and that federal law does not require employment policies to be written in Spanish.


Gordon & Rees recommends that employers with large populations of non-native English speakers translate their employee handbooks, disciplinary documents, and warning signs and have access to a translator. If the employer has limited resources, it should make sure at a minimum that its EEO, no-harassment, no-retaliation, open-door/grievance, and safety/work rules are available in other languages or that it can otherwise prove that this information has been explained to the employee in a way that he or she can understand.


The workshop was fantastic because it fostered interaction among researchers and professionals in interdisciplinary areas, such as translation studies, applied linguistics, health, ergonomics and other technical fields. Only about 20 people attended the event, but it ended up being great for networking and exchange of ideas in a more intimate and personal level. I was the only professional translator; everybody else was a researcher and/or university professor.


In a nutshell, the translational action is a complex system and sociological event that involves various actors and factors where every small detail of the interaction matters. What we currently see are translators adapting to machines, instead of the contrary.


Military professionals and veterans may need additional assistance in describing their past military career experiences to potential employers. You bring a variety of skills and experience to the workforce. As you continue to grow and build your company and your diverse workplace expands, you can take steps to improve workplace safety by providing your employees with safety training and associated materials in the language they know best.


According to an American Public Health Association (APHA) policy statement, many foreign-born individuals have limited English proficiency (LEP). These individuals are at higher risk of workplace injuries and fatalities. These risks are compounded by communication barriers that can prevent them from fully understanding and retaining safety training and other work-related information.


Another important point is that companies who use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to translate materials may fail to take cultural references into consideration. Instead, translators play a critical role in bridging the technical expertise of data engineers and data scientists with the operational expertise of marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, risk, and other frontline managers. In their role, translators help ensure that the deep insights generated through sophisticated analytics translate into impact at scale in an organization. By 2026, the McKinsey Global Institute estimates that demand for translators in the United States alone may reach two to four million.


At the outset of an analytics initiative, translators draw on their domain knowledge to help business leaders identify and prioritize their business problems, based on which will create the highest value when solved. These may be opportunities within a single line of business (e.g., improving product quality in manufacturing) or cross-organizational initiatives (e.g., reducing product delivery time).


Translators then tap into their working knowledge of AI and analytics to convey these business goals to the data professionals who will create the models and solutions. Finally, translators ensure that the solution produces insights that the business can interpret and execute on, and, ultimately, communicates the benefits of these insights to business users to drive adoption.
