Does anyone have and would be willing to post drawings of the
Tornado cockpit, GR1, GR4, IDS, ECR, ADV, but will take what I can.

If not, can you recommend a book that contains such drawings.

Many thanks

Honestly, the only *drawings* I've seen so far are from the technical
manuals which obviously aren't available for everyone.

But there is not too much difference between the Tornado variants
regarding the cockpit. GR/IDS/ECR/ADV are basically the same (except of
course the difference in displays and control units due to different
revisions and also national differences), with the back seater (Weapon
System Officer) having no flight controls but two computer displays
(TV/TABs) and a RADAR and moving map display (CRPMD/CEDAM) together with
a joystick. In the GT (trainer) versions the backseater only has one
TV/TAB but instead has flight controls (stick/throttle/rudder) and
primary flight instruments.

There are very good books about the Tornado, i.e. the one from Francis
K. Mason (I have the German translation here) which contains photos of
the cockpit. The book covers the whole development from the TSR2 to the
GR.4 and also contains some interesting details (i.e. why the USAF
showed increasing interest and especially after the RAF winning several
US bombing trials the USAF wanted to purchase Tornados which of course
got killed by the politics).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I have since found some diagrams here http://www.tornado-data.com/History/Pressreleases/panavia_cockpit.htm. The many
times I looked at this site I never looked at the Sales and Marketing section. Still not the best images, low resolution makes the text hard
to read.

What I really need now is the dimensions of just one of the cockpit dials.

Thanks

Hm...this gives me a 404 (unavailabe). Seems to be down...

Since you're in the UK, did you ever ask at BAe Systems in Warton? As
one of the manufacturers of Tornado aircrafts they probably could help
you with what you're looking for.
