Also , can the An-70 hold the same type of cargo that fits inside an C-130 J (
I'm thinking a comparison of the diameter of the cargo hold etc. )?.

Dimensions of the cargo bay in the accompanying diagram are :-
Length is 19100 minus ramp - including ramp it is 22400

Width is 4000 at floor level, 4800 at 'waist' (widest) level
Cargo capacity is 47 tons, crusing speed is 750-800 Km/h
Cruising altitude is 9,00-12,000m
On a concrete/unpaved runway on an ordinary takeoff/landing required field length
figures are 1,800-2,200
for unpaved runway, short takeoff/landing figures are 900 & 600-700 respectively.

It also qualifies as the a/c with the highest number of prop blades - 56 in all!
Each engine has 14 blades on the propfans - 8 at front, 6 at rear.

Gee , thanks for that ; good pics on your site too ! It seems like a western
version ( as proposed to Germany originally ) may be better than the A-400
after all , and cheaper ! The Czech Republic was recently sold ( as payment for
old Soviet debt ) 3 An-70's for an average 65 million USD . When compared to
the projected 100+ million USD cost of the A-400 this seems like more than a
good bargain for upper medium --- low strategic airlift .
