Some of you may recall Carlo Kopp, an Austrailian expert on
military avaiation frequently posting to this group. I seem
to recall his assertions were often challenged by others, and
am not sure of his ultimate credibility. Don't know if he
posts here any more or not.

But Carlo is quoted in a Wired article on the Sukhoi T-50
steath fighter, saying that it is generally better than the
F-35 and a real challenge to the F-22 in some ways.

Anyways, an interesting article. Three stealthy air forces
in the world now it appears.

No, only one stealthy Air Force and a few other countries doing R&D.

One thing that interested me was they said American radrs are not as good at detecting low observable airframes. While he Russians and Chinese have certainly worked at that, with rumors that such systems were field tested during the Serbia war of the late 1990s bouncing about, I'm actually surprised if the US hasn't tested them too, the US should have an excellent knowledge base to go on in developing anti-stealth detecton systems, with our experience in developing and operating such aircraft.

We did have a good long lead in getting our next generation of planes out there, and it seems a lot of that lead time may have been lost due to budget cuts, and distractions.

One never know what they've been up to with that great black ops
budget they've had for so many years!

Happy T-Day, all!
