Oooohhhh .... he's from my Province ... and he's expounding on the dreaded
HST which most British Columbians loathe.

He makes a compelling case, too. Good to see him still doing his
thing.

I rest easy knowing that there are at least three mountain ranges and
thousands of kilometres of muskeg and Canadian Shield between him and me.

So are people in BC about you.
Why don't you lazy govmonks get real jobs instead
of taxing the crap from real working people to party
in Ottawa Offtario.

If you had a government job that had reasonable pay and decent
conditions would you give it up?
Or would you go out in the rain and snow to shovel shit for peanuts out
of a sense of moral outrage?

I'll get me coat, galoshes and shovel. ;^)
My wife's relatives live in South Carolina. Long ago they learned that
in hard times the only place that actually payed their help was the
government. If South Carolina gets it, how come it misses so many
others?

Too many people think that, because the government employs people to
provide services, it owes them a job. The fact that they might be
unsuitable for the job to which they applied and are consequently
rejected, or that there might be more qualified candidates never occurs
to them; they think the government owes them a job. The government does
not owe them a job, it owes them cost-effective services required by law.
It will employ the necessary human resources it can get at labour market
rates to provide those services.

Canadian government, not yet retired

The gov used to not only provide jobs, they were manditory. Fun stuff
like machinegun schlepping. Been a third of a century since there was
a draft in the US. How soon we forget.

I gave up a career in academia for time with CIA and later with the
FCC. I think I gave good service at a lower pay level than I would
have had in teaching at the university level. I retired and have a
decent pension when my friends are bemoaning their 201Ks that started
out as 401Ks.
Don't rest too easy............Rumour has it he owns a Landrover Discovery,
that just loves that type of terrain ! :-))

If he had a real Landie I might worry but not if it's a Disco

Anyway, I don't know this Yoshida, but it appears he lives close to me, and
he is railing against the hated HST (harmonized sales tax just instituted in
our province), which makes him okay in my books.
- nilita
That's like supporting Mussolini because he made the trains run on
time. Support Yoshida and you will be in WW3 before you know it.
For people who like peace and quiet: a phoneless cord.
Those damn Eskimos again?
Whatever he's got (Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport)
it's still just an SUV with very good to excellent off-road
capability...which means unless it finds some handy logging roads it's
getting almost nowhere in the Canadian boreal forest.

Depends on how old it is.
The original Discovery had Defender running gear.
This is assuming that it is stock and without special
modifications. ;)
Seriously, glad to see he is still out doing his thing, and I hope he
is well and happy. Always liked his spirit and verve.
