The biggest challenge seems to be China and Russia actually
fielding a true 5th Gen fighter.
Depends how much return they get on all those US Bonds...
Face it, the Cold War is over. It's done. Finished. We won. Yaaay. I
don't see any logic in continuing defense spending at anywhere near
cold war levels. That sort of spending helped to bring down the Soviet
Union-with our current debt, it just isn't economically feasible.
But you have a choice that is not far from Hobson's: kill the big
stuff or start making booths for breadlines.
heh heh
but AFAICT US bonds are strategically much more effective than 5th or
4.5th gen fighters in the balance of powers....

Dott. Piergiorgio.
Now _that_ is a good point. Why build bombs when you can hold everyone
else's debt?
Owe a thousand, the bank owns you...own 10 billion you own the bank.

Hobson's choice is not a choice between two bad options.
it you get what your given you have no choice.
the famed Hobson ran an inn and stables and you could rent a horse. but
the horse was the one Hobson had ready, not one you might want to pick. a
take it or leave it option.
people always get it wrong.
