I am not certain which is more interesting (a) that the Iranians fired
at civilian airlines or (b) that they missed.

According to the classified information, Irans Revolutionary Guard
fired a TOR-M1 surface to-air-missile at a civilian airliner in June 2007.

The following year, in May and June 2008, Iranian antiaircraft batteries
fired on yet another civilian airliner, as well as an Iranian
reconnaissance drone, and one of Irans own F14 fighter jets.

Suprisingly when you run away from the Tailiban they don't want to make peace. They want to continue to pursue, attack and finish the fight on their terms by destroying you.

There was a time when people in the West understood that war was about doing that, too.
