I understand that the IAC got four Hectors from the RAF in 1942/42.
Can anyone provide more info on the type's service with the IAC and any info
on the airframe which featured on the news.
I understand that the airframe was bought by the father of the current owner
and buried in an embankment with a view to stabilising the site.
I am told that the airframe is almost intact and in pretty good condition -
if this is the case what price would it get if sold. No doubt much work will
be required to restore this aircraft
Are there any other Hectors in existence anywhere.
Regards
Frank

First part of the answer is that TEN Hectors were delivered in
1940 and given serials 78 to 87. A further three attrition replacements
were serialed 88 to 90.
I visited the EAC at Baldonnel in September and was given a fairly detailed
history which I have (somewhere). Further details which will have to
wait - it's gone midnight now and I have to be up at six to get to the
Icicle Meet in the morning!!

again used for training. Some were later transferred to the R & mb

The Irish Air Corps received six Hinds and twelve Hectors all ex-RAF.

Two aircraft were reportedly recovered by members of the South East
Aviation Enthusiasts Group, lead by George Harvey. TV reports showed
two relatively intact fuselages, minus fabric & engines. One was
identified as a Hawker Hind and the other possibly a Hawker Hector

The SEAEG, in co-operation with the owner of the site the aircraft
were recovered from hope to restore the aircraft for museum display.
George Harvey and the SEAEG already own several historic aircraft
which were on display at Waterford Airport, Ireland.
