Protests were held on Friday to mark the Guantnamo hunger strikes
100th day. Outside the White House, demonstrators wearing orange
jumpsuits and carrying signs were arrested after refusing to leave
the sidewalk. In New York City, dozens of people gathered for a
rally in Times Square.

Ben Case: "As far as I can tell, President Obama wants to say
that Congress is holding him up, or theres these laws, or its
complicated. As far as I can tell, its not complicated. Thats a
military prison down there, and President Obama is the
commander-in-chief of the military. As far as I can tell, he has to
pick up his phone and call someone and say, 'Close the prison.'"

Obama has broken his 2008 pre-election promise to close it.

Why weren't you saying to "shitcan" him from Feb 2012 to Nov. 2012?

It is the republican degenerates in Washington that passed laws to prevent the closing.

If you cannot grasp the simplest facts then shut the fuck up!

I don't see what the problem is.
If the jihadis want to starve themselves to death, by all means
stand back and let nature take its course.

Wrong, wrong, ohhhhh so wrong.

You must mean:

"Hello, this is Obama, throw him in prison."

Son, I did post to shitcan him then...and I did not vote for him.

Your choice, Mitt, was far worse than Obama...far worse.

Makes no difference, son, he can still do something, take a
stand and fight it. You may be too dense to see the options he
has...as President and as CIC.

The problem is that they have never been charged with a crime much less been convicted of
one.

But I guess if you are the kind of person that is OK with torture and indefinite detention
then it's not a problem.

They aren't ordinary criminals subject to the civilian
legal system, they are unlawful combatants who could
be executed out of hand for their temerity.

Please define torture. I have noted that the usual suspects
tend to equate mild discomfort with the rack and death of
a thousand cuts.

Look dumb ass...try using your brain. Does "take a stand and fight
it" mean anything to your peabrain? You've advocated just giving up.

For starters, use the bully pulpit...every day. There are many
more options available, but see if you can grasp the bully pulpit idea.

usenet...full of dumb asses and peabrains...<sigh>

I went through a DOD hostage survival course that was two days of
classroom instruction and one day of practical.

The instructors were down in San Antonio from the survival school at
Fairchild. One of them had been an interpreter with the USMC before
enlisting in the Air Force. Sergeant Habib, formerly of Lebanon.

In the practical scenario I was a part of our plane had already been
hijacked and five us were sitting at the front of the room. The rest of
the class was sitting at the back of the room and the lights were out.
An overhead projector was used to illuminate us.

Sgt. Habib was telling us five that, as a show of good faith to the
United States, one of us would be released but we had to decide who that
person would be.

As he's talking the light from the overhead is shining directly into my
eyes so I look to the side.

*BLAM!*

From out of the darkness a hand came and slapped me across the face.

"Look at me when I talk to you! LOOK AT ME WHEN I TALK TO YOU!"

After getting my bell rung with no warning I decided looking at him when
he talked to me was sage advice that I would follow immediately. I may
have written it down, too.

So, should I sue the US Air Force and the US Government for torture?
How about all of those special forces personnel from the different
services who have been water boarded?

After the scenario ended Sgt. Habib came over to shake my hand and make
sure my head was out of the scenario and back to reality. I told him I
was happy he hadn't thrown water in my face and slammed me into the
walls like he did the guy in the scenario ahead of me. I also told him
my name was "Jeff", like my mother named me, and not "Blackie", like he
had been calling me based on the color of my skin.

We voted to allow the one girl in our group to be released and Sgt.
Habib objected, wondering why the oppressed "Blackie" wasn't allowed to
go home. Funny, I didn't feel oppressed. I just felt like crying like
a girl because the side of my face was on fire.

A few of the clownshoes whining about "torture" should be
subjected to the full SER course experience on an involuntary basis.
Might give them some perspective.
