Me too. Please email me if you find one! The 9-hour version is on DVD but the original 13-hour version seems only available form folks who had the VHS deck rolling in 1985.

That was an interesting thing to watch - they filmed it between the hangars at NAS North Island (San Diego, CA), which dated to the 1930s and had been featured in several previous aviation movies (Dive Bomber, This is the Navy, etc.). Michael York, Bruce Dern, James Gardner all came out and spent a few days on location, walking around our helicopter flightline wearing period clothes from the 1940s. The farewell scene, featuring a C-47, was filmed right next to the fledgling SH-60 Fleet Introduction Team (forget what it was actually called, Triple T maybe?) parking line, so as they warmed up the Gooney for a scene, one of the prototype Navy SH-60s taxiied right through. What stands out was the first five prototypes were hand-built, so the line of rivets down the side wandered along as you ran your hands over it. Michael York was focused; Bruce Dern was enjoying the attention of his female co-star; Only saw James Gardner while they were shooting one scene. They used a couple of squids as extras. The other movie that was made at NORIS during my time there was Top Gun - Tom Cruise was not far away from where they filmed "Space".
