Really bad news.... if sectarian violence involving the third Abramitic
religion start in Egypt (notice that egyptian Copts are 10M vs. 70M
muslims, and have also a sizeable expat community, enough for sustaining
a long sectarian fight) are really a major PITA, but the real danger is
that only two very weak (and in the process of recovering from a
secession) countries separate the country in where copts are the
suffering minority from the countries where copts are the Power that Be
(and being Italian I'm more than sure that if Judas's Lion charges down
the Nile, isn't a nice perspective for egyptian muslims)

Erithreans and Ethopian are by far the most ferocious fighters against
muslims (after Adowa, being christian (coptic) became one of the
prerequisites for being enlisted in the Italian colonial troops)

Eritrea is not backward as seems, and there's enough 'Net connections in
the Ethopia to start stirring popular support in these two countries

Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.

The Europeans will not be happy if that many refugees come running although
they would like them better than Muslims.

My understanding is that the Vatican has already been talking to the EC
about the possibility of large numbers of Christian refugees from the
Middle East and South Asia.

As the UK absorbed about a quarter of a million Christians from India
between 1948 and 1963, most of whom are now intermarried with the
locals and almost fully integrated without anyone actually noticing,
Christian immigrants aren't usually considered a problem.

there's another serious point: UK Gov't was never happy on the meddlings
of Irish ex-pats in United States... and the Mediterrannean sea, is
*much* narrower than the Atlantic (read: major mess ahead)

I hope so... I'm worried that (you're briton, and will understand)
ex-pats Copts start to brew troubles...)

My wife had relatives who came to the UK fifty years ago.

Their descendants consider themselves British and put 'White British' on
any forms they fill in.

That their grandfather was an Indian was something they didn't realise
until that grandfather turned up one day with their aunt from India.

There are a million and a half Hindus in the UK, nobody notices.

There are something over half a million Sikhs as well, but all anyone
ever notices is the odd turban about the place.

Between them these two groups probably outnumber our Muslim population
of about two million.

Plus there are about 300,000 Jews.

These groups give next to no trouble unless they get harassed.

Neither do the million or so Irish and the half million Poles who live here.

The only groups that give trouble on any level above the trivial are the
Muslims and the Afro-Caribbeans.

Small sections of both groups refuse to integrate into normal British
life for radically different reasons.

However the Afro-Caribbean problem is quite rapidly resolving itself as
that group has no problems with intermarriage.

While the British are not as good as the USA at integrating immigrants
they're quite good at it, far better than France...

I have no idea how good Italy is at this, but I would suggest it's a
skill that they're going to have to learn...

When things are bad people head for the old colonial power, and things
are bad in Libya...

I can chuckle on this ? Carribbeans get the best of the two cultures,
African and Latin....

This is what puzzles us; until few years ago, we was confident in our
capability of handling immigrants, but we're all surprised of the sudden
emergence of the unknown-before conflicts between natives and
immigrants; perhaps is related to the rather exclusive nature of
marriage in Islam ?

The very last thing Italy needs now, with all the massive issues already
to be sorted out is the exploiting of a certain birth certificate issued
in Sirte on or no more than few days after 7 June 1942 (that is, sadly,
*prior* of the Battle of El-Alamein....)

(Italian laws don't consider permanent the renounce of citizenship; back
then when was the massive economical crisis in Argentina, every Argie
with the needed requisites reminds their Italian citizenship right, and
our Embassy get an overwork, fortunately the local economical crisis was
solved prior of having a rather massive Argentine "immigration"...)

Best regards from Italu,
dott. Piergiorgio.

I have no idea why certain section of the Muslim community in Europe
refuse to integrate.

All I know is that it's a major problem and is causing a lot of problems.

Although it is worth remembering that the Euro-Asians probably had an
ancestor from the UK. The Copts do not.

Only a few of the Catholic 'East-Indians' had a European ancestor, and
they're the majority.

The bulk of them were 'St Thomas' Christians and had been Christian for
2,000 years or so...
