I routinely see ads for aircraft scrapyards and salvage yards out in the
deserts of NM or NV or such, but I was wondering if anyone knows the
location or contact info for any airplane graveyards in the Eastern US,
preferably in the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, VA, NC). I prefer
salvage yards that permit customers to roam the yard and pull parts
themselves.

Please Email me at mda...@erols.com if you have any info...

There is one outside of Kansas City.

Firm is White Industries and I believe they have a web site. Might try a search
engine such as google.com to locate.

They also have ads on a regular basis in trade-a-plane.

I am not sure they will let you roam around. Most do not due to liability
issues.

They also have a landing strip next to they yards.

There is a salvage yard on the field at Artesia, NM. Can't recall the
name, but you should be able to easily research it.

Hmmm ... Did someone turn the country inside out while I wasn't
looking, so that Kansas City and New Mexico are now on the East Coast?

Maybe this last one was a mistake, but the guy asked for east coast boneyards. The
first Wrong Way Carrigan gave him a yard in Missouri (east coast of Colorado) and
the other guy gives him a yard in Mew Mexico (east coast of Arizona)! Hope you
fellows don't fly for a living or even pleasure!

40 miles north of Atlanta is Atlanta Air Salvage. I know it's not as close to the
east coast as Kansas City, and it's more south than what you're looking for, but
it's the only one I know of in the area.

There is one in Chesapeake VA. Drat, my mistake, that's my hangar. It
just LOOKS like a scrap yard!
If you hear of one on the EAST coast let us all know. As it stands
now all we seem to have around here is the virtual salvage yard on the
news groups. I have gotten a lot of parts that way but going to the
yard in Kansas City while visiting relatives was a great experiance.

Wrong Way Mysterian,

Hope you're not planning to fly from Colorado to Missouri; you'll probably run out of
fuel in the middle of Kansas.

Damn, I looked at Kansas City on a US Map and forgot it was right on the border, then
looked left to far! I better stick with flight following if I don't file!

Mike,

There is one near Sky Acres (44N) approx. 10 NE of POU. I would call Sky
Acres and ask for details.
