Has anyone found a decent simulator for the KLN 94 besides GPS Trainer 2.0.
The trainer is good for general familiarization but I'm looking for a sim
where I can practice program flight plans, approaches, STARS, SID's etc. I
talked to Bendix King and they originally had plans to release a version on
their site, similar to what's currently available for the KLN 89b and
GNS/XLS but apparently have run into licensing issues and said it won't be
available for some time. Just looking to see how others get familiarized
with this unit without the hobbs meter running.

GPS simulators are available on the BENDIX/KING website.
I have just started to test the KLN89/B simulator, it is interesting for
training but not dynamic (you can't simulate a flight).

This simulator is useless except to see what the knobs will do. I have
the KLN89/B and the only way I was able to really learn it is a couple
of hours with a knowledgable instructor and the tapes for (John and
Martha) King. I watched them through several times. Finally, get someone
that likes to fly and let them ride with you and look for traffic while
you play with the thing in VFR.

I own my own plane-I have no hobbs meter. But, I certainlly appreciate
what you want to accomplish.

Do what my clients do, have me fly south west airlines to their location, do 4
flight hours per day doing the gps approaches, sids, stars, runway extensions,
VNAV, etc, and after 5 days you'll be quite comfortable with the software.

The net result is you know the software and are not intimidated by trying to do
more with it. Clients have absolutely loved the runway extention with VNAV
programing.

For KLN-94 owners, I do not feel this is necessary. I curled up with the manual
for a few days, went out and flew with a safety pilot, and stay current by reading
up on the unit every now and again. No problem with approaches or 'advanced
features.' It's all in the manual. It's a simple, straightforward IFR GPS.
Better yet, find a local CFI familiar with the unit and go fly with him.

Garmin has a really nice sim for a few of there GPS. (400 and 500 series)
A different company has even designed software so these sims can work within
MS Flight Sim 2002. It's SO helpful having a computer based sim.

I wrote Bendix/King to suggest they get on the stick. Told them what the
competition had avialable.

Two of our new club planes have the KLN94. I too curled up on the couch a
few nights and figured it out by reading the downloadable manual. It takes
some time and several flights to get it down. One thing I stumbled over was
that you have to fully enter the approach before you can select one of it's
fixes and do a direct to. Don't try to use the direct to until you've
passed the screen that says "add this approach to flight plan 0". As you
enter the approach you are asked to pick an IAF, this is where you enter
your best guess but don't hit direct to yet.... Aaron

Do you have a link to the company that offers the FS2002 integration
software?
