I was curious about the cost of data base updates for an IFR certified GPS
- in particular the King KLN89B.

You should ask your dealer where you bought it.

> The KLN-89B full update service is $459/year. You get a new
database card every 28 days. They have less frequent updates
for less money, but I assume that if you are buying the 89B
you are going to approach certify it, in which case you want
to keep the database current.

From June, 95 Aviation Consumer: IFR GPS annual database subscriptions,
28 day updates:

Arnav - $485
Bendix/King - $495 (this was for 90B)
Garmin - $555
Northstar - $698
IIMorrow - $795
Timible - $485

Bendix/King 56 day - $359, One-shot - $149.

Hope this helps,

Sorry to interject but it seems that the G.P.S. provider company that
finds a inexpensive, user friendly, method of keeping the DataBase
current, will sell more certified units than all the other
manufactures combined.
