( Apologies to anyone outside the Bay Area .. distribution = ba ).

As a new kit owner, I am looking for a local EAA chapter.

I've been told that local chapter's vary widely ( correct ??).

Does anyone have comments on the relative merits of the various
EAA chapters and/or their tech counselors in the South Bay ?.
How do the two chapters in San Jose rate ? Other suggestions ?

I am in Fremont the closer the better, but finding the "right"
chapter is important.

If it matters, I'm building a Lancair 360.

Thanks in Advance,

Ken Berkovec

I am a member of both Chapter 62 and 338.

Chapter 62 meets on the first Thursday of the month at Vern Miller Aviation
at Reid-Hillview Airport.
Comments: Large chapter, excellent programs, some social events.

Chapter 338 meets the second Tuesday of the month at Ewert's Photos in
Santa Clara (Just S of US 101 at San Tomas Expwy). You can see it from 101.
Comments: Chapter was larger and more active in the past. Good knowledge
base. Chapter has some tools for lending to members. I am tool chairman.

Both chapters meet at 7:30 PM.

Other chapters are in Livermore, Concord and Redwood City. I don't have
any info on those.
