I'm interested in building a replica of a "Royal Aircraft Factory SE5A".

Does anyone know where I can get a set of plans, my aim is to build a full
size or as near to full size replica as posible.

I would like to contact anyone undertaking a similar project. Apart from
numerous model aircraft (RC) this will be my first large aircraft, so any
sugestions at this early stage are most welcome.

Regards
Philip Hortin.

Perth, Western Australia.

Several years ago I wrote to a company that sold plans for a replica SE-5. I
don't know if they are still around, but here is their address at the time:

Replica Plans

Good luck

You may want to check with the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum. They used
to sell duplicates of the original plans for many aircraft. I built a 1/4
scale Fokker Dr.I using their plans.

There are several Replica plans SE5a's flying in the UK they look very
good and are said to handle well. They are not quite full size having
a wingspan of 22'10" , WA.140 sq.ft. Max.wt.1100lbs empty wt 790lbs
R.o.C.500'/min, cruise 74kts engine 65 to 100hp.
My details are old but the plans used to cost about $80 from
The Popular Flying Office, Terminal Building,Shoreham airport,
Shoreham by sea, Sussex,UK.
Good luck with the project,John Coker,(biplane nut)
