I wanted to know, is this the most powerful and lightest electric
motor available? If not, then what is?
I was trying to see what electric motor, if any, might be suitable for
powering an ultralight. Any idea?
I hear that fuel cells are going to be the next big wave in
transportation, as many of the critical obstacles in the technology
have been overcome. So if fuel cells and electric motors can power
ground vehicles, then why not an ultralight?
Or even a gyroplane? In the latter, couldn't one of these Lynch motors
at least be used as a pre-rotator?
Anyway, I was thinking that an eletric fuel cell powered ultralight
would be a quieter flying and environmentally friendly aircraft. Also
the electric motor might provide some weight savings over a combustion
engine, for better performace.
Comments?

Yes, you probably could make an electric ultralight, but at the moment
I'd guess you are looking at at least $100M investment to bring fuel
cells up to flight levels, or be happy with 10min flights.
Rubber-powered ultralights have been done, but only powered for a few
seconds.
They are coming, auto makers are investing heavily in them, but even there
they are still rather heavy.
Perhaps in ten years.
I wonder about turbogenerators using shaft-mounted generators driving
motors, but that's of somewhat limited use.
