Does anyone know what happened to the Aerosport Co. that sold plans/kits(?)
for the Quail?

Are plans still available?

The designer was killed in the '70s in the test-flight crash of
the new two-place Quail he had built. Aileron flutter, If I recall. I
had called them to find out about the progress of this machine, having
read about it in a magazine, and received the bad news. I don't know
if they're still around.

A local EAAer - a personal friend of the designer - has a Quail that he
built. He has flown it for over 1,000 hours. There's a nice article about
the builder and the airplane in the most recent issue of Jack Cox's
"Sportsman Pilot" magazine.

I'll see the builder tomorrow evening. I suspect that he can answer all of
your questions here within a few days. The designer's widow is still an
active member of EAA Chapter 506, as is her son, a local A&P/AI/DAR.
