Hi folks,

I am getting close to the point where I will be registering N-Number for my
Velocity SUV. I was going through the AC the folks at local FSDO have sent
me. My understanding is that I file the request for N number with AC
8050-88 and bill of sale from the kit manufacturer.

The 8050-88 requires me to fill in the type of engine and serial number.
Since at this point, I do not have the engine or the type selected, I am
assuming this can be left blank. Do I understand this correctly? The regs
are not clear on this point and I am hoping I do not have to wait until I
get my engine to register.

Anyone have experiences with this?

You can reserve a number for $10 with just a simple letter to the OKC folks.
You don't even have to have a model in mind to do that. You have a year to
transfer it to an aircraft (via the form) or else pay another $10.

Thanks to you both for the info.

For the moment, I'll send the OK people my simple letter with a check for
$10.

This is sort of like the old M*A*S*H line of crossing out the word
"Machine Gun" and writing in "Pizza Oven" on the requisition form.

"That's not a cat license, it's a dog license with the word 'dog'
crossed out and 'cat' written in in crayon!"

"Man didn't have the right forms."

I have a similar question. I registered without the engine info. Now I
need to update it with the chosen engine info, serial number, etc. I
wonder how I do that...
