AAA (CSAA) Auto Insurance

Hi,
Did anyone had bad experience with AAA (American Automobile Association)
regarding auto insurance? They are quoting a lower premium compared to other
mainstream insurance companies in Bay area. They also have 15% premium back after
one year. But I am having a doubt regarding their efficience since they are not
a insurance company. Do they pay promptly if they need to?
