My car was a victim of a side swipe hit and run in the company parking lot.
The rear fender was not bent or dented, but it has white paint and black
skid marks on top of my gray paint. How can I remove the smired paint and not
my own? I have a '85 Buick T-type Reagle. I belive it once had a clear coat
when new but I had the gray on the side painted a few years back.
Please email any response.
Thanks,
Kelly

Hope it works for you.

This only works, without harming your paint job, if you have a pretty good wax job, otherwise it rubs off the clearcoat. If you do this rub around the marked area as well. Rub very lightly on the outside and harder (but still not very hard at all) where it is marked. This blends the rubbed area in with the unrubbed area. Finally, wax your car again.

A friend had good luck using a mild rubbing/polishing compound to remove
the paint left by a hit-and-run side-swipe on a Cavalier that he had rented.
Removed all traces of the foreign paint and cleaned up all the scratches
that weren't already through the paint.

My thoughts, probably not Harris'.
I have been the victim of the same problem. I had it happen to my 92
Caravan. I was very successful using mineral spirits and then rewaxing the
finish. Also if it is not too bad usally a good wax will take it off. Like
Nu-Finish or Liquid Glass. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting it off.
Good Luck!

Go to your local *.mart and by some polishing compound for cars. Use it like
wax on the paint you want to get off.
If this does not work, go one step futher and use rubbing compound. This is
significantly more abrasive and should be used carefully.
Whatever you decide to do, wax the area when you finish or your paint will "dry"
out.
