Will someone please tell me where to place the jack to change the right rear
tire on a 1992 Aerostar van? The owner's manual has a very bad illustration
and I seem to be bending metal in all the places I've tried. According to
the owner's manual, the jack should be slid underneath the vehicle under the
sliding door, but I can't seem to get it in a good place. Thank you.

Well, you might not like my answer, but here goes. First, like a lot of
vehicles, the factory jack is worthless. My advice is to buy a small
floor jack and use it instead. The metal you are bending can be used to
jack up a Taurus or similar Ford car, but the van has too much weight
to jack up the vehicle by using the welded seam. Put the jack under the
axle or the shock mount on the axle. If you absolutely have to use the
jack, practice with it on a hard level surface before you try using it
on the road.

Well, that does make some sense, factory jacks are generally squat. A
good bottle-jack under an aframe will lift, and not usually do any
damage.
