Can anyone help me, had to take the bottom handle off my wrench and the
whole thing came apart, now that I want to put it back together I need to
know how to set the calibration on the wrench. It's a sears torque wrench
that adjusts by turning the bottom handle to the right torque and locking
the handle in place once you've reach the proper Ft. lbs. Called sears
because the locking ring on mine snapped and then said I need my receipt
and would have to been purchased in the last 12 months . This always
happens when someone at sears trys to help me out should I just toss it
and buy a snap-on? But really if anyone has ever recalibrated theirs
please e-mail at imato...@aol.com with instructions.
thanks in advance tony the tool!!

I have had mine calibrated by a calibration service. They dread
working on the Craftsman wrenches because of the plastic parts that
tend to break and/or fall apart when you open them up. I am having it
checked again next month. If it is off, I'lll probably just trash it
and buy a real one.

My Craftsman 1/2 in torque wrench just fell apart last week. The bottom
plug dropped off. It was out of warranty, and the repair office said it
would cost a minimum of 50 bucks just to ship it to the actual repair
facility. It costs 70 bucks new, and the salesman said he'd give me five
bucks off that just for grins.

But I had been planning to have it "recalibrated" because the documentation
said it was periodically needed. However, it appears that recalibration
costs almost as much as a new wrench.

I, too, wonder how much Snap-On torque wrenches cost to own.
